ANNOUNCING THE 'COOL SEAT' PROJECT '24/'25!
- ROTTING FOOD WASTE IN GARBAGE DUMPS IS A MAJOR SOURCE OF METHANE - A GREENHOUSE GAS UP TO TEN TIMES WORSE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT THAN CARBON DIOXIDE!!
- AUSTRALIANS THROW AWAY 7.6 MILLION TONNES OF FOOD WASTE ANNUALLY that goes to landfill :average, each Australian family throws away .5 tonne/ year.
- COMPOSTING is the simple and natural way to get rid of food waste - and do good things for your garden!
- But finding space for composting for apartment/townhouse dwellers and families on small areas of land can be more challenging
- BUT NOT ANYMORE!! - NOT WITH A 'COOL SEAT' COMPOSTING SYSTEM!
Image
- The 'Cool Seat' composting system developed by Michael Mobbs is the COOL solution to composting for communities!
- It's easy to use: highly efficient -processing 150kgs+ of food waste: sealed and safe from vermin attack - made from completely recycled metal and wood - all set within two small garden beds - perfect for flowers or herbs! - AND with a wooden bench seat to sit and enjoy whatever is in the gardens!
- A 'Cool Seat' is functionally very effective - it is also an aesthetically pleasing addition to any street, apartment block or townhouse complex - and is supported by the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
- AND TWO LUCKY COMMUNITIES IN Ku-ring-gai LGA ARE GOING TO WIN ONE - absolutely free!
- Thanks to a generous Environmental Levy Grant from Ku-ring-gai Council, Electrifying Bradfield Inc is able to purchase two 'Cool Seats' for a Trial in Ku-ring-gai. David Smith, President, 'Electrifying Bradfield Inc.' will be the co-ordinator for the project and will work with Michael Mobbs, designer of the 'Cool Seat' to implement it.
- BUT- there are some conditions! Because this is a Trial we want to gather information regarding the success of the use of the 'Cool Seats' and any issue/challenges for installing more of them in Ku-ring-gai.
- It will be necessary for the residents of the two communities to enter into an agreement with 'Electrifying Bradfield Inc.' to regularly monitor the amounts of food waste being composted, to complete a simple survey and attend an interview - maybe agree to be photographed for publicity!
Not much to ask considering they are getting a $2000.00+ reward!!
- The Trial will begin in October 2024 and last until April/May 2025.
- The lucky Communities will be selected on the basis of an Expression of Interest Application.
- APPLICATIONS CLOSE 5.00pm. FRIDAY 11th October,2024
- A 'COMMUNITY' could be any precinct with 15-20 households -20 families in a street; 20 apartments/a, townhouse complex, a small children’s centre, charity etc
