  • Anxieties, concerns and issues children and young people have about impacts of climate change and changes essential to create a sustainable world at present and in their futures  are well established and increasingly recognised.
  • While, on the one hand, it is important for children and young people to understand the challenges that climate change brings, it is just as important for them to have accurate information regarding the increasing solutions to many of these challenges that already exist-- and are being implemented around the world -----
  • It is even more important to provide them with stories and examples of positive actions demonstrating resilience, strong belief, and active hope that together IT IS possible for us to create a better more sustainable world for everything and everybody who lives on Planet Earth!              Actions that as individuals - and collectively - they can take!
  • BOOKS are wonderful resources for providing such stories and examples - picture books, imaginary novels, and poetry!
  • There is an amazing range of wonderful books currently available to provide the stories that young people need!- Some serious! Some quirky! Some humorous- but with important messages!
  • 'Donate a Book for Climate Change' is a project being sponsored by Electrifying Bradfield Inc.
  • The aim of the project is to strengthen the collections of books in Ku-ring-gai Libraries- books  that focus on  sustainability, renewable energy and creating positive changes to our natural and human environments.
  • Working with the Collection Librarians of Ku-ring-gai Public Libraries we are identifying a number of books currently not held in the libraries but that Librarians have identified as being important for young people - and adults- to access - some are picture books for little people - some fictional novels - some reference non-fiction books for older students and adults.
  • We will then list the books identified - with a brief description and their cost AND INVITE RESIDENTS OF Ku-ring-gai to donate one or more of the books on the list - even specifying which library they would like them to go to - and with a sticker including the name(s) of the donor/s placed inside the book.  None of the books cost over $50.00 - and many are below $20.00!
  • Currently we are still negotiating the books that will be listed with the Collection Librarians. As soon as that is complete the opportunity to donate will be advertised on our website.
  • Please consider being a donor in this project that aims to inform, educate and inspire children, young people and adults to learn about and implement positive, hopeful and resilient actions that can help to ease the anxieties and concerns around climate change and its impacts.
